Comment: Hey there guys and gals. I just wanted to let you know how proud I am of you and all that you have accomplished in such a short time. To do what you did takes extremely hard work and complete dedication. With that, comes maturity, and i'm glad to say i've had the pleasure of watching many of you become mature young adults. Remember to never stop learning, and no matter what, never give less than 100%! Also, remember that it doesn't end with marching band. You now have all-state tryouts, concert season, and solo/ensemble. It is said that a school's concert band is the true mark of how successful the program really is. If you work as hard during concert season as you did in marching season, you will be a definite success. Good luck to all of you, and on a more personal note, THANKS TO AN AWESOME GROUP OF SENIORS!

Comment: MR. BONE:
THE 1999 BAND SEASON AT SWANSEA WAS THE BEST THAT I HAVE SEEN IN THE PAST 10 YEARS. I HAVE ALWAYS HELPED WITH THE FOOTBALL PROGRAM IN THE PRESS BOX. I THINK THIS IS A TRUE CREDIT TO YOU AND THE HARD WORK AND LONG HOURS YOU PUT IN WITH THESE (OUR) KIDS. THE KIDS HAVE A LOT TO BE GREATFUL TO YOU FOR, THOUGH THEY MAY NOT REALIZE IT. ALTHOUGH THE BAND BOOSTER CLUB, THE PIT CREW AND MANY PARENTS GIVE THEIR TIME TO HELP, IT IS TRUELY JUST A FRACTION OF THE TIME THAT YOU PUT IN WITH OUR KIDS. WE THE PARENTS ARE AND SHOULD BE TRUELY GREATFUL TO YOU FOR THE EXAMPLE OF HARD WORK AND DEDICATION THAT YOU SHOW AND ARE TEACHING OUR KIDS. I MYSELF LOVE MUSIC. I AM LOOKING FOWARD TO WORKING WITH THE BAND EVEN MORE NEXT YEAR. PLEASE KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. DAVID HAMM--S.C. DEPT. OF TRANSPORTATION......

Comment: Swansea Tiger Band, I am a recent graduate of Pelion High School, Class of 1999, and I remember when the band at Pelion won the State Championship in class A in 1993. I remember because I was in it. Swansea's band program has come a long way since then and I do not think those words even half describe it. For the past two years, I have seen a lot of changes in the band and it was for the better. Now I am in the Newberry College Marching Band, home of the Indians and a major in music education. There are only two or three bands in the whole state last year in any classification that deserved a state title and Swansea High School was one of them. Great job and congratulations on all of your past accomplishments and the best of luck next year and after that. -Bill Smith Newberry College

Comment: Hi. I've seen the Swansea Tiger Band in action, and I think that they are the best. Even maybe the Best of the Best. I especially enjoyed the Baritone Section this year. They were well trained and sounded very professional. I hope that they stay the same and maybe even improve for the next marching season. I wish the Band the best of luck in the up coming year and I would also like to congratulate them on being selected to go to Florida. I would also like to congratulate the following list of students for being selected to go to Region Band : Brock Jeffcoat, Travis Brisson, Alex Roberts, Jessica Joseph, Robbi Robinson, Anthony Riley, and Larry Amick. Good Luck!

Comment: October 2001 - Mr. Bone, you walk on water! As one of your band parents and a booster club member, I wanted to express to you my gratitude for encouraging this group of young people to strive for the best. You have instilled in them the desire to succeed and never give up. You challenge them to rise above and dig deep to accomplish their goals. This knowledge will be and is invaluable to them now and throughout their adult life. Your witness as a Christian by example is more powerful than words. I am honored that you are molding our children to become the leaders of tomorrow. Thank you for being a part of our children's lives. Please know that you are much appreciated and I am looking forward to many more years with you as the band director of your award winning Swansea Tiger Band. LEAVE NO DOUBT ! !

Comment: Congrats!!!Ever since 1964 I have been listening to bands, beginning in Georgia with my brothers, then my future husbands, then my brother-in-law who played with S.E. Turrentine, one of the most reknown band directors in America. Even as a Choral Director, I continued to follow bands just to broaden my music education, never suspecting that one day I would have a son who would be not only IN the band, but a percussionist no less, a wall beater, a pencil thumper on desks at school, etc. I continued to attend band contests as I began my teaching career after to moving to SC, at Clinton High then while teaching and working wonderfully with Lorrain Paris at Newberry and then at BLHS with the cooperative personality of the "kid" I had once worked with in community theater Benji Rikard. All this so say that I feel just a LITTLE qualified to say that your band SINGS when they play and that is MOST important. Turrentine had his band actually sing their warm-up corale at concert festival a capella onstage ; it was incredible. Your students are learning so very much - not only about musicianship but about sportsmanship , cooperation and citizenship and teamwork. But they are seeing such beauty in life with the music you play and the WAY they play it. Thank you for the way you use your ability . Don't let education and the system get you down!!! Keep plugging. THEY are your reason! And believe me - they are the ONLY reason. Please convey my congrats to them and how much I appreciate their attitude and behavior and sportsmanship - not only of them but but of their parents. SEE YA IN THE PIT!!! Linda Moon, proud mother of Charlie and choral director of Batesburg-Leesville High School - Welcome to our outstanding facility. Wish you had time to visit.

Comment: First off I would like to say that I am going to miss the graduating seniors. I only hope that they come back to help out in the years to come. Also someone that we couldn't do it with out is Mr. Bone. I would like to thank you for all you've done for me and everyone else. If it wasn't for you I would have never gained courage to beat the limits and I surely wouldn't be sitting here with three state championship medals. But the main thing I feel I learned from you is that you can do anything if you put your mind to it. Serena c/o 2004
